The EC Regulation No. 178/2002 of January 28, 2002, requires the management of traceability starting from January 1, 2005 for all companies in the food-processing industry.
European operators of food and feed industry must have systems and procedures to identify the supply source of raw materials, and also the companies they supplied their products (on the "one step back, one step beyond" criteria). These information must be available to the authorities that require it.
